WATS the meaning of handmade?

Well, it’s anything that is made by hand, rather than by machine. It also means that these products are produced in a unique, more intimate type of way by its talented artists/crafters.

Why buy handmade?

Buying Handmade is not only for yourself.

Everyone loves to receive gifts even especially if there’s no special occasion. So in giving a handmade gift to a loved one, it doesn’t only make your “giftee” happy, but the artists and crafters - who put time, effort and heart into each item - as well. Buying handmade shows that you have great support for them and their craft. And of course for the “giftee”, they’ll receive something very unique and somehow a gift with “spirit”. That is what handmade products can do.

Buying handmade makes us connect with the product more.

Knowing where the products come from and what the product is made of makes us understand and appreciate the product more. This makes us connect with the people behind the products and hopefully learn more about them - their culture, life, family, talent, interests and more.

Buying handmade is made for the environment.

Did you know that mass production is one the major causes of pollution? Let’s all start with our own little ways of simplifying our lives and help stop endangering the environment. I know it’s difficult to do so, I mean we love our iPods, but I guess one is enough, right?

Buying handmade can be healthier.

Soaps as an example, handmade ones tend to be much milder than the conventionally-mass-produced products. What’s the difference you ask? Most handmade soaps include the ingredient “glycerine”, which helps keep the skin soft and healthy.

These are just some of the interesting things that make the experience of buying handmade products much richer.
